Forgiving, is it really possible?

Forgiveness means different things to different people. Generally, however, it involves a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. Forgiving is good for our mental health.

The act that hurt or offended you might always be with you, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help free you from the control of the person who harmed you. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy, and compassion for the one who hurt you.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or excusing the harm done to you or making up with the person who caused the harm. Forgiveness brings a kind of peace that helps you go on with life.

  2. It means moving on. While you are tied to the past they will always have power over you. People only have the power that you give them.

  3. I appreciate this post. It took me a long time to forgive me mother for the abuse I endured from her. I am currently working on my book “Dear Momma” in honor of her, now knowing & understanding her struggles, loosing her mom as a kid & living undiagnosed w/ mental health all these years. When looking deeper, I realized she is actually a good person overall. I empathize with her & I love her. Finally allowing myself to forgive her has giving me the freedom to move forward in life with my mission to inspire others. Thank you!!!
