How To Cope with Anger While You are Grieving

motivation inspiration help mental health dra martha andrea castro noriega

Losing a loved one can be one of the most painful and stressful events in your life, and it might cause a severe emotional crisis that could develop into different physical symptoms or diseases:

  • Anger
  • Despair
  • Guilt
  • High blood pressure
  • Headaches
  • Bone aches
  • Worsening of arthritis symptoms.
  • Gastritis or worsening of symptoms.
  • And more…

This emotional maelstrom can affect behavior and judgment. Many patients report to me stomach pain, and eating habit changes: loss or gain of appetite, intestinal upsets, sleep disturbances, and loss of energy. Of all life’s stresses, mourning can seriously test your natural defense systems. Existing illnesses may worsen or new conditions may appear.

In stressful and sad times you don’t need people around you who do not support you. You need to surround yourself with loving human beings who actually care about you. Go out with them, and trust them if they have proven to you that they are loyal and faithful.Having and caring for pets like dogs, cats, and birds, is another way to find comfort. I especially love cats, but others prefer dogs or birds. Some people don’t like animals and would rather care for plants. Therefore, get into planting, gardening, farming, and grafting. Some of my patients have expressed their liking towards social activities like volunteering, helping others, and “not being at home where there are so many memories” — they say. It is fine, but remember,  sooner or later you have to face reality and stay at home. So do the volunteering for other reasons such as helping others and just “not” to be at home.

Remember: After the storm, calm is restored.

Climb Every Mountain Inspiring Song Shirley Basey Video

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN

I watched Barbra Streisand concert, delightful voice, BUT, Barbara Streisand misunderstood this or decided to change the meaning of the song. She sang a song from the “Sound Of Music”. (My favorite version is with one of my best-loved singers of all times: Dame Shirley Bassey). I have a problem with a part of the lyrics.

I will tell you first a little bit of my musical experience so you know why I dare to criticize (in a constructive way, of course) the lyrics and Barbara Sreisand.

Barbra Streisand lacks that philosophy heart and didn’t put it together correctly. She was the director of her own concert, and this was a flaw of hers

I happen to be a musician. I play the guitar and sing very well, actually. I sang professionally in my youth to pay for my medical career.

I studied music, singing lessons and musical composicion: music and lyrics, in Bellas Artes in Mexico City. So I think I have a very good idea of what I am talking about, but I am always open for a healthy debate and to change my mind if somebody is willing to explain to me why I am wrong in my assertion about this song:

The problem I have with, is highlighted and I will tell you why below the lyrics:

Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
‘Till you find your dream

It should say “reach” your dream, not find your dream. You already need to have had found your dream, this is “know” your dream, then climb every mountain, until you reach it.

And I don’t see any problem with the rhyme. Changing the word find to reach would not affect the tune nor the octaves, but it would make a lot more sense, and it would have more psychological and inspirational impact, in my opinion.

What do you think?
