If Turkeys Thought

If turkeys thought,
they’d run away,
A week before Thanksgiving Day.
But turkeys can’t anticipate,
And so there’s turkey on my plate.

Grandma´s Turkey

I like the taste of turkey
Any time throughout the year
But it never seems to taste as good
As when Thanksgiving’s here.
Could be it’s all the trimmings
That are cooked with it to eat-
But I think it’s eating at Grandma’s house
That makes it such a treat.

Celebration I Quit Smoking 22 Years Ago

Today I am celebrating that 22 years ago I smoked my last cigarette. It wasn’t easy, it was darn difficult, physically and mentally. But I did it, and I am so proud I did. My health has improved immensely, I exercise and don´t get out of breath. I enjoy the horizon without the need to have a cigarette between my fingers. I don’t celebrate every year. I did it this one because I needed to remember myself that I can do and accomplish what I want to. That I have will power and strong!

How Do You Love To Celebrate Your Birthday?

Yes, we are born, aren’t we? Grow up a few months and then, 365 days later: BAM! Parents and grandparents decide to celebrate your first birthday on this earth, “a special day” they call it, a day none of us remember!

Needless to say: years go by, suddenly you are 7 and you want some presents for your birthday: mainly toys. When you are 16 things change, now you want to spend it with your friends, have a teenage party. Two or three years go by, now you are 18 or 19 and you want to celebrate your birthday with your sweetheart.

If everything goes fine in your life and you are “lucky” enough to grow older, the twenties, thirties, forties….fifties anyone?! Then what? How do you really want to celebrate your birthday?

Thank you for being who you are, hard-working women, students in science, arts, writers in journalism, poetry, philosophy, mothers, the pillar of your family, politicians. Thank you for reading what I write, what I share. As a woman, I have always fought hard for my rights to become successful, healthy, happy, for my family.

It has not been easy for me, and I am sure it has not been easy for many women with whom I have been in contact within the digital world. But we reach out, we study, we work, we are disciplined, and persevere until we conquer what we want. 

We, women, are strong and deserve to speak out against violence against us, just because we have been perceived as the “weak gender”.
