Oatmeal is one of my favorite choices of food to eat in the morning. Oatmeal contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that make me feel so much better through out the day. It also contains carbohydrates, proteins and soluble fiber which helps me not to feel bloated. Soluble fiber also reduces the levels of LDL or “bad” cholesterol by blocking its absorption into the bloodstream.
Oatmeal with Cinnamon and Apples
Its main ingredient is manganese, which it has been proven scientifically to reduce the inflammation of the joints, improves bone health and it has been linked to lower incidents of seizures in patients with epilepsy.
Oatmeal and Strawberries
If you want to enjoy your oatmeal in the morning you can add some banana, apple, no sugar, water and maybe a bit of low-fat milk, lots of cinnamon one day and the next I add vanilla, one day blue berries next day strawberries. I personally do not like to add pecans but some people can’t eat oatmeal without adding pecans. It’s your choice.
Oatmeal Bananas and Berries
I prefer steel-cut oatmeal. Others prefer the rolled or irish oats. Whatever the kind if you like them, enjoy them!
My strawberries are thriving. They love the weather we are having in my neck of the woods and they ripe fast, so I am having tons of them everyday. It’s so much fun! This year I fertilized them naturally with leaves from my banana trees and other sustainable methods I have; maybe that’s why they are so happy.
ONE OF MY STRAWBERRY PLANTS 😍
I have so many that now I have to figure out a way to feed the family with them so no strawberry goes to waste. Well, my hens eat them when for some reason they go bad. Usually I eat them fresh right off the plant, in shakes, I make refreshing drinks, jam, popsicles, shortcake, and even salads.
My romaine lettuce in my garden….GOING CRAZY…and healthy!
Lettuce Nutrition Facts at the bottom of the post.
Lettuce is a great vegetable: it looks beautiful in your veggie yard, it is healthy on your plate and refreshing on your face.
My friend says lettuce and cucumber on her face works wonders. She looks 10-15 younger her real age, that’s for sure!
Many of us have the goal of being strong and healthy now and in our 80’s and 90’s ( I personally want to celebrate my 100 year birthday on a bicycle or motorcycle, yes, Sir! ) If you want to be live a long life you need to start eating some anti-aging food and, for starters, leafy greens have to be on your plate every day, lots of them!
I grow mint, strawberries and watermelon on my yard, and this refreshing beverage is a wonderful way to use them all. You can add only mint and strawberries. Flexibility is the key! Ah, For extra flair, add some ginger ale.
MINT STRAWBERRY WATERMELON
A friend suggested I add a sprig of rosemary to lemonade. The herb makes the drink taste fresh and light, and it’s a pretty garnish.
LEMONADE WITH A TAD OF ROSEMARY….Ah, refreshing!
Aguas frescas are refreshing fruit drinks they sell all over Mexico, and that you can find in this country at almost any taqueria. They’re cooling and sweet and are great alongside spicy food.
This is a cucumber juice base that seems to have the effect of lowering one’s body temperature. (Gives new meaning to the phrase “cool as a cucumber”.)
CUCUMBER LIME MINT
Making long blackberry shrub drinks is a creative way to use up extra fruit all the way summer. They are as colorful and refreshing as a summer drink should be.
