Why aren’t most people free thinkers?

Because people like structure and to think within a structure. Free thinking is therefore outside the norm, which can bring on isolation or criticism, or misunderstanding. Most people don’t want to be different from others, even if free thinking is probably good for progress overall.

I Believe In Evidence

“Don’t you believe in anything?” Isaac Asimov said, “I believe in evidence. I believe in observation, measurement, and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers”.

“Organized” religion, “des-organized” religion: sects and cults, have been created by humans throughout millennia. As humans evolved from small hunter-gatherer tribes into large agrarian cultures, our ancestors needed to encourage cooperation and tolerance among relative strangers. Religion then—along with the belief in a moralizing God—was a cultural adaptation to these challenges.

Yes, a very smart child has reasons to choose science over religion. Choosing freedom from religion liberates the mind, and has the great potential of making the individual a very happy human being. Nothing is better than living a life free of fear of punishment and hell, free from the constant control of people who praise fairies, leaves a great space in our minds for knowledge and everyday evolution of our mental capacities and real-sincere compassion for humanity.

Think and express your thoughts, but if they are contradicted do not feel defensive. Everybody is allowed to express his/her opinion, even when it opposes ours.

INSTEAD: LEARN from that opinion. It will make you grow and think smarter.

Yes, because us, the free thinkers, question everything and worship nothing. Always, accumulation of ideas and thoughts. Wonderful world in my mind!

Thinking requires the utilization of the brain in a coherent manner, scientifically if possible, but everyone can do this, in philosophy, art, sports, gardening, carpentry, in every profession and activity we practice.
